Ayy, so I'm currently building a PC and I am stuck on a good PSU to go with. I'm going to be using 650 and have a budget of $80-$90 but can go up if necessary. What is troubling me is the thought of buying a PSU and having it blow up a couple of months in. If anyone has had experience with multiple PSU's and can give me some suggestions that would be great!

both are high quality/ excellent choices however if u got the money i would get the platinum one (the gs is still extremely high quality) but the platinum would save u money in the long run, comes with double warranty(10years vs 5) and is excellent quality, minor better than the gs

Solution
My go to has always been the XFX Core 550 for single GPU + CPU builds. I never bothered with efficiency as that's not really a problem for me personally. If people want less heat output then I understand, or even a lower power bill, but like I said, not an issue for me.

I recommend this one:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: EVGA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($62.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $62.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I think it's a bit friendlier to your wallet, if that's a concern, while maintaining high quality.

great suggestion tbh, i overlooked this :)
the only downside imo is its not fully modular but for the price great deal !
