Does the Oculus Rift support SLI?

A friend of a friend will be in the market for a hefty gaming PC to play with an Oculus Rift and I was considering selling him my PC. It has a 4690k and two GTX 970s.

I ran the steam VR test with and without SLI, but got the same results each time. I also was forum hunting to find Nvidia supports it with Unity dropping the ball.

So is SLI supported or confirmed to be later on?

Solution
It really depends on the game. Keep in mind that when new non-VR PC games are released, they usually have no SLI or Crossfire support from the start. There is no doubt that Oculus titles will have multi-GPU support. Having multi-GPU support is determined by the studio that makes the game, not by Oculus. With 30 titles already out for the Oculus, it is safe to say most if not all will probably support multiple GPUs.

I had read a few places that Nvidia (and maybe AMD) was saying 2-way SLI may boost performance over a single card by having one card dedicated for "eye" though I suppose it's kind of up in the air at this point.

If the SLI support is a no, would a GTX 970 be enough to play comfortably or should I help him build a new system with a GTX 980ti?

I'll fill him in on this and let him decide whether or not to have SLI (basically the same decision to make with regular gaming). I was kinda surprised by how little information there is on this with all of the hype going on. Thanks guys!
