+12v running at 13.816 V?

so i did a overclock of 4.4ghz on my FX8350 and set my voltage to 1.280v and on the NB as well, and was going to run prime 95, but something caught my eye, in HWmonitor it was reading my +12v at 13.816 V? is that bad? in my bios the +12v reads at 12v, and if that reading is correct is that safe? thanks.

Solution
Turn off variable cpu voltage in bios. This allows your cpu to use a higher voltage based on whether or not it thinks it needs it, in which most cases it is wrong.

CPU voltage settings in bios should make no difference on the voltages the PSU is supplying. Especially 12V rail values can change during use depending on load and quality of PSU (these should always stay within regulation though). And like said earlier don't trust values from programs, bios should usually show the correct values though.

I totally agree with Samat, you need to check the 12v output from your power supply with a multi meter so you know for sure what the actual +12v voltage coming out of that power supply is.

13.816v is fantastic output for a cars alternator to charge a car battery, but is detrimental voltage for the +12v lines in a computer, that is way over what it should be.

thanks for the replies! also i have come across some new info about my motherboard and overclocking. i got a MSI 970a SLI krait edition, and people have said that this board is not very capable of overclocking because of VRAM, not really sure what that means but is is true? thanks

I have no idea about that, might be more easier to get answer to that question with a new thread.
