Hello everyone,

A year ago I built my first pc, about a month ago I started noticing when turning it on that the bios would take a bit more to boot, maybe 10 seconds more, then 20, then 30, until sometimes it wouldn't turn on at all and i had to hard restart and try again. Today it simply wont boot anymore.

CPU and Dram red lights are blinking, I have tried:
Disconnecting monitor/speakers/etc.
Disconnecting GPU
Switching RAM
Reapply thermal paste to the CPU
Remove boot drives

Nothing seems to work, computer was fine after it booted, Im starting to think the MBO died, but could it also be the CPU? What should I test for?

If it's still under warranty, you could talk to Asus tech support, they might be able to help you as well. If both LEDs are flashing, it might be booting, finding a fault, and rebooting. Do you have a speaker hooked up to the leads on the motherboard, does it beep at all? A steady light either CPU or RAM would indicate faulty CPU or RAM (duh), but they also could indicate a fault in the board. Friends with known good parts to try switching parts out would be the best bet, when my Sabertooth started acting up I bought an 1150 CPU off eBay for like 30$ just to have around for diagnostic purposes. Also, could be the battery I guess. After that maybe the bios is corrupt. Lot of possibilities.

Try with no RAM. Then add a stick if it works with just the one, also you could try them in different slots, see if they'll play nice in other spots...

I have tried all RAM combinations, no luck. If I disconnect the CPU supply from the motherboard both bliking stop. Does this mean anything or is it just that is disconnected?

Disconnect everything but the CPU, use the onboard video (provided your CPU supports that) And see if you get anything to go. You should get a solid light for the RAM with just the CPU plugged in, and nothing else. Barring that, call Asus (I'm assuming you're in North America) and if your board is only a year old, it should still be under warranty, Asus is good about that, you'll have to pay to get it to them, but they pay to return it, and they'll test it there once they receive it, also, you could take everything out (I'd leave the CPU in so you don't have to worry about bent pins) and maybe take it to a local shop, see if they can't plug it in for you and see if it goes there. They should have a test bench set up.
