Hey guys, I have a HDD from another computer that I want to use temporarily in this computer. I have hooked it p with power and the SATA cable. It shows up in the BIOS in all the SATA slots, but it wont show up in the Disk Managment. Does anyone know whats going on?

Thanks -Mike

This is a bit strange indeed. Try it out with a different system if possible. Other than that there's not much you can do about it besides to try and update or reset the BIOS/UEFI and see if the drive pops-up in Disk Management. You could also make sure that all the drivers for the motherboard are up to date.
If the drive work OK with a different computer, backup the data and test it with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool to see if the HDD is fine, as mentioned in my previous post.

Please keep me posted.
Hey there, Michael.

Is it recognized in Device Manager at least? I'd recommend that you make sure that everything is connected properly. It would be even better if you could try it with a different SATA slot and different cables, to see if the same thing happens. If there's no data on that drive which you want to keep, you could download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test it, to see if there's anything alarming.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick response boogieman. I just tried every SATA slot available and each time I went into the BIOS and the HDD showed up on all slots. I also continued to boot into windows and Disk Manager, but it is not listed there, also device manager in windows dosen't have the HDD listed. Is there anything you know of that would cause it to be seen in the BIOS but not in Windows?
