How much value will the GTX 980ti Matrix Plat keep

Solution
Well that's what's smart about Nvidia. Unlike AMD, they don't allow SLI with different cards, so your option would be either get 1070 for $350 or so which will be as strong as the 980ti (let's say), so it won't be an upgrade, or pay a premium price for a second 980ti so you can go SLI. Unlike nvidia, you can crossfire the 290 with a 390.

Who knows - no-one knows the performance or price points of the new cards. If nVidia comes in to make a splash with a real performance upgrade for less money like they did with the 970 release, you may well lose a bundle. If the performance / price changes are incremental, you may well be good. Only nVidia marketing strategy employees can tell you with any certainty at the moment ;)

I doubt the 1070 will launch at $120 more than the 970 did. The Pascal cards will probably replace the Maxwell cards in the same price classes.

As for the used value of your 980Ti, I think that depends on how strong the 1070 is. Last generation the $330 970 came very close to matching the performance of a $699 780Ti. It wouldn't have made sense for anyone to buy a used 780Ti for much more than $330 since they could get a brand new 970 for that price.

If we see a similar performance jump people aren't going to want to pay more than a 1070 costs for your used 980Ti. If the 980Ti is still much stronger than the 1070 you might be able to get $500 for it.
