Why do they sell HP, Sony DVD-R Discs such a low price & Memorex brand is pricey?

I'm thinking of getting a Sony, HP, TDK DVD-R blank discs but how come they sell them for 100 discs for $18 and a Memorex 50 pack is $20?

I always use Memorex DVD-R since they never fail for me.
But should I also switch to a different brand?
I'm worried HP, TDK, Sony will fail on me
Opinions if you ever used this brand?

i have used may different brands over the years and none of them have failed. even with your goto memorex brand there is always the chance you could get one or 2 defective disk in the pack just like any other brand. blank cd and dvds have been around for almost more then 20 years now so its safe to say they is a very rare chance any will be defective and if you find one it will just be one disk in a pack that will be
