i wanted to upgrade my graphic card in my PC and am having troubles. i installed the drivers as i should and powered down the computer... i then removed my old graphics card and installed the new one. hooked it up to monitor/tv via HDMI and powered it back up. Now it does power up but there is no video/signal being sent/received. It doesn't even boot into the BIOS let alone windows. i reverted back to to old card and it works fine. I tried the onboard video and that works also. so i was thinking maybe something was wrong with the card, but nope. I tried the new card in my backup PC and it works just fine fully installs and works flawlessly. HMMMMMMMMM? i tried it again in the computer i want it in and again its the same thing over again.

Computer: Gateway DX4870-UB21P
Motherboard: Acer IPIMB-AR Rev 1.02A
Processor : Intel Core i5-2320 3.0 GHz Quad-Core
RAM: 10 GB
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 2000(onboard)/Nvidia Gt610 1GB(old)/XFX R7 240 2GB(new)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home Premium

P.S. i am not very tech savy so i may need some thorough explanations on things... thanks for the help in advance...

Try use the gt610, then download and install the UUD to uninstall the nvidia GPU driver in safe mode, shut down the pc. Then switch to the r7 240, boot the pc install the AMD GPU driver.

If you still have problem, try update the BIOS. Or just maybe the PSU, because both cards will draw almost same power. But who knows. Try other one or borrow one from your friend.

If your bad PCIe slot turns out to not be the issue, then like cin19 said try making sure that the previous card's drivers are completely removed, then reinstall the new drivers. I had some weirdness going on when I upgraded to this same card and that turned out to be the cause.
