I have been having this issue for a while. Every time I run a game, and sometimes when i'm browsing the Internet, my computer suddenly crashes and I have to force shut down the machine. This crash can happen 5-60 mins into playing but it almost always happens. I was having this issue in Windows 10 so I downgraded to Windows 8 with a factory reset but the problem persists. I have tried many fixes from the internet such as disabling link state power management and re installing drivers. If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have nothing overclocked. My CPU reaches max temps of around 72C when under 100% load. Is that a problem?

I tried switching the ram but it didn't work. I still experienced crashes. As for the power supply, I'm going to pick one up tomorrow. Thanks.

Pick up one what?

PSUs are not all made equal, and you should know what you are getting ahead of time.

According to your system specification, the maximum temperature for intel core i5 2500k is 72 C. You won’t encounter any problem until it reaches 90.

I bought a Thermaltake Toughpower Gold 650W Power Supply. I tried running the PC with it but I still experienced the same crash.

I did say to check here first so you can avoid garbage... Go return that PSU, it's useless. If you want to try again, get an EVGA G2 650W or even a B2 if you're low on cash

But will a new psu fix the crashing problem? If a brand new psu didnt solve the problem then my old psu isn't causing it, right?

I think I was pretty clear about stating that not all PSUs are made equal, and termaltake stuff is bottom bin, only marginally better than what you had.

Will that fix it? Depends on if you already followed the other instructions and tested your drivers and memory first. There's still a small chance it's something else, but if it is you'll have a hell of a hard time finding what's wrong in that case.

Im sure it's not the power supply thats causing it. I replaced my RAM with Kingston HyperX Fury 8Gb-1600 RAM to see if that was the issue. That led to my PC not posting at all. And when i look at the event viewer i get an error that says "Audit Events Have Been Dropped By the Transport." every time i crash. And when I reboot my PC the icons and window placements between screens gets messed up, as in all my Chrome tabs are on one monitor. I dont know if this helps but i'm desperate for any suggestions at this point. Thanks.
