I built a new system today (first one in five years) so was fairly rusty. I followed a guide for adding thermal paste using the 'x' method and my temps during x-plane (which seems to run each core at 100% constantly - I think it's quite a cpu intensive sim) are as follows:
max 59, 61, 57, 56 and 61 for the package after one hour.
idle is at 21, 22, 21, 21, package at 23. It drops to these temps almost immediately after quitting the sim.
This is using a coolermaster 212 evo HSF with a 6700k in a good quality case with plenty of fans. Do these temps seem reasonable? The reason I ask is because I'm not an expert and eventually I'd like to overclock. I notice some people are getting 50oC under load, but maybe they have better coolers rather than me just not seating it properly. I did take care to make sure it was down correctly, and also ensured it wasn't moved after I initially pushed the HSF onto the cpu.
