Network streaming devices

I'm looking for a device (small box) I can connect to my TV to stream DVD videos from my network drive to my TV. The DVD's I have on a network drive are 1 to 1 (they play on my computer as if I put the DVD into the computer). I'm looking for a streaming type box that can stream and play these files (.VOB file format) from a network drive to the TV over my home network. It doesn't need to be extremely powerful (as long as it plays the .VOB files without buffering throughout the movie), it doesn't need to have a lot of or any apps (even though a Netflix app would be a plus), and it doesn't need to be expensive.

I would like to be able to add Plex and/or XBMC to it so it can have the description, etc of the movie (like this: http://www.snapfiles.com/screenfiles/plex2.jpg or this: https://lh6.ggpht.com/xnfl2rzARr4wmxk8Ov4XLeRnEUFylsJd0CoiF3LD8HzJ1_V5B6Tu7m0TCdpmz4bEiA=h900).

What devices are able to stream .VOB from a network drive to a TV (one that preferably has both HDMI and regular component outputs - yes I still have some older TV's) without freezing and/or buffering constantly?

Some of the ones I'm looking at are:

Sony SMP-N200

Sony SMP-N100

Sony NSZ-GS8

Sony SMP-NX20

Sony SMP-U10

Sony NSZ-GS7 (Internet player with Google TV)

Sony SMP-U10B

Sony VGP-MR200U (network media receiver)

Sony PCNA-MR10 (RoomLink Network Media Receiver)

Sony FMP-X10 (Ultra HD Media Player)

Sony NSP-100 (Network Player)

Sony NSZ-GT1 (Internet TV Blu-ray Disc Player)

Sony VGP-MR100U (RoomLink Network Media Receiver)

Sony LF-B10 (LocationFree Base Station)

D-Link DSM-520 (Wireless HD Media Player)

WD TV Live Hub (etwork media player with a built-in high-capacity hard drive)

It doesn't need to have a hard drive like the WD one does. Something like the Roku 2 would be similar to what I'm looking for, except instead of streaming from Netflix, it (also) streams from my network hard drive (.VOB files). (One of the devices listed above had a regular remote, but integrated a touch pad and a qwerty keyboard on the back side of it, that would be nice for searches, but I don't remember which one it was).

Any of these would work?? Any suggestions??

Thanks.

Hi,

I would recommend a Raspberry Pi running Kodi,

It plays anything you throw at it, its very tweek-able and can be controlled from your TVs remote control ( If your TV supports HDMI CEC ) or an app on a smart phone, I use Kore on Android.

A PI can be powered from your TVs USB port if it has one, the |Generation 3 board has WiFi but I would still recommend a wired connection if you can.

Thanks for your reply, I'll look into it. I was looking at some of the ones I listed cause they were like around $20 for the unit. I just want something simple that doesn't really cost that much, which is why I listed the ones above.

Thanks.
