Scan.co.uk guy said my mother board and CPU are failing but I want a second opinion...

I've been having trouble with windows explorer crashing and restarting when I right click on a folder or drive. I've tried all of the online guides and used the ShellEXview that was recommended to no avail. I decided to do a complete reinstall of windows on a new SSD and the same issue popped up several weeks later... Again none of the suggested advice worked.

Two more things have popped up as well which made the Scan guy tell me my MoBo is playing up. My USB3 slots are only recognised as USB2 for some reason (all drivers installed) and I bought some new RAM so I have 6x 2Gb of DDR3 RAM instead of my original 3x2Gb DDR3 RAM, my PC is only recognising 10Gb RAM and I've already sent back the new stuff and tried the replacement to the same effect...

Anyway, I'd really not like to fork out for a new CPU, motherboard and RAM like the scan guy was suggesting.

my specs are:
Intel CPU i7 950 Quad Core Processor
Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 1366 Motherboard
Samsung 2.5-Inch 1 TB 850 EVO Solid State Drive
4GB STRIX GTX970
Corsair Memory Dominator 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800
28535 6GB 3x2 CMX6GX3M3A1600C9 XMS3 (new RAM)
Antec TruePower New 650 W Power Supply
Silverstone Tech. Raven RV02B-W Black Mid Tower Computer Case
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, Single, - OEM

Any Ideas?
