Hi there ,

I recently bought a new motherboard and my GPU is not working on the primary PCIe x16 slot , it only works in the x8 slot. I was wondering how to fix this issue. If anyone has the same motherboard could they send me a pic of the graphics settings on the BIOS also to see if that's where I'm going wrong.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 4790k
GPU: Radeon Sapphire R9 290 tri-x OC edition
Motherboard: Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 (I've updated the BIOS)
RAM: 4x4gb Corsair
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
PSU: Corsair Gold 750W semi modular

Solution
May try update the chipset driver to make sure there is not the software problem.
In the BIOS, go into the bios graphics settings, make sure it is the auto, that means when you have a discrete GPU then the onboard will be disabled.
If after you done the chipset driver update, because you did update the MB BIOS, and you have the same problem, that means the 1st pcie slot has problem, return the MB or use the GPU in the x8 slot.
