I opened my DVD player because the tray wouldn't eject and in the process I discovered that the it wouldn't play dvds giving the message unknown disc check disc again and it would not spin the dvd .After cleaning the laser lens it would play dvds and spin the dvd just fine. The following morning I tested it to make sure it was still working before I put it back together and once again it wouldn't play dvds or spin them giving the same message as before except this time it would spin the motor. The laser assembly appeared to work fine. I put a CD in to see if it would play and it worked. I know this could be caused by the laser not being strong enough to read the dvds but since it worked a day earlier I am hesitant to believe that.
