Here's the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vwvKFT

Money isn't too much of an issue as long as it's pretty reasonable. Ideally it matches the black/blue/white theme.

From my understanding, I want RAM with the lowest CAS and the speed won't make too much of a difference once you're above 1600. Is that all correct? Should I be aiming to get 7 or lower CAS?

The plan is to use the rig for high level gaming. Possibly some design work, but nothing insane.

It does but none of it is available any more and hasn't been for a long time, so CAS 7 is as low as you can go now

You are much better off with DDR3 2400 than 1600. You can almost ignore the cas latency ( timings ) as it's really the speed the module operates at that provides the high throughput modern Intel processors need. So get the highest speed with the lowest timings you can afford.

Why aren't you using Skylake?

Looks like these are the only too CPUs with higher benchmarks than mine that are under $600:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-5930K+%40+3.50GHz&id=2336
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-5820K+%40+3.30GHz&id=2340

They are both LGA2011-v3. That's pre-skylake too isn't it?

What would be the benefit of going Skylake if it requires a CPU with a lower benchmark? (very new to this so eager to learn more)
