Hey guys , I'm new here and this is my first post so please bare with me

So I upgraded my RAM from 2 GB (1x2GB) to 8GB (2x4 GB). When I started my computer , it hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen and immediately reboots.

RAM I bought: Kingston 4GB 1333hz 240pin
Motherboard: MSI-2a9c
CPU: Intel i3 540

When I select startup repair , I get the BSOD

When I select "Start Windows Normally" , it hangs when the "Starting Windows" screen pops up and immediately reboots.

When I put back my old RAM (2GB) the boots
fine

Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Your motherboard is based on the intel H57 chipset, which has a LGA1156 socket. I have a mobo with a H55 chipset, which is much the same, and started a thread here a few days ago about what kind of RAM to get for it to upgrade from 2x2GB to 2x4GB.

I'm afraid the news is not good - only low density RAM works with this chipset, and Kingston don't make this anymore, so the RAM you've bought is probably incompatible with the mobo. Moderator Tradesman1 recommended the GSkill NT series of Value DRAM as a low density kind that would suit - I'm about to order their F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT one for it. I haven't been able to find out if any other kind/brand would fit for sure - have a look at the thread to see how much searching I've done!
