It depends on how what the mb is rated to handle for cpu wattage, so a board for example with 125w cpu requires an 8 pin (4+4) connector. So you're just fine with the 4 pin.

Your board only needs a 4 pin CPU power.
If yours are 8 pin CPU cables, they can be split into 2 - 4 pins.
