I have a DZ68BC motherboard, i5 2400 cpu PNY DDR3 16GB (4x4GB) 1333MHz (PC3-10666) CAS 9 1.5V PC. I tried to upgrade it to Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM but my system wouldn't boot and kept shutting off. Anything I need to do differently?

did you check your motherboard manual to see what RAM is compatible with it?
apparently you didn't, which is why you have your problem. Send the New RAM back to where you bought it, and put the Ram Backin that was on the motherboard to begin with.

Assuming this is the product in question: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104447

It should be perfectly compatible, yes even according to intel's product page. Where did you read that it was incompatible?

I didn't read anywhere that it was incompatible.if it was compatible, the manual would indicate as such, wouldn't it?

Yes, it tells you which type of memory to use, in this case the op was correct in buying that product. Also, manufacturers usually give a list of tested modules that worked with each mb, either tested internally or by a third party. This list is always incomplete for the simple reason that there isn't enough time to test every type of module out there. But usually, they test the big brands and list whether they work, they almost always do, and report the recommended specs for each, etc. In the case of OP's situation, that kingston ram should work perfectly with his mb. But to be sure, he should check if that ram isn't doa, so try and stick it in another pc and see what the result is.
