Question about transferring hard drives

My old internal Seagate hard drive is giving out so I bought a new internal Seagate hard drive.

I did the System Image Backup and placed it on my External Seagate hard drive.

Once I have put the new hard drive in, how do I go from there to install the new hard drive and recover the image backup from my external

If you did the image backup via an App like Macrium, you would had created a recovery boot flash. After you have replaced the internal HD, you would boot with the flash and restore the backup. You should actually do a DISK CLONE instead of image backup so recovery partition is also restored. That's one way.
