No! You motherboard with six port can virtually access 30x drives, but additional part is requires. You can use such SPM394, SPM393 to create HUGE HDD ( 5x drive becomes as one). there is no software nor drivers needed.

https://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/raid/sas_raid/sas-71605e/ with couple SAS expander you can connect up to 256 drives
