in system restore point, how will i be benefited if i turn on system restore protection for other local drives (ex: local disk D) other than C? if i turn on protection for local disk D and create system restore point, will that create a backup of the what is present in that particular drive or the entire pc (inc all my files, programs and windows files)?

No, it will not create full backup, restore point Only backs up main settings and drivers. It makes sense to make restore point for system drive only.
If you want full system backup you can use something like http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx and make a backup of all the partitions of system disk.
