Hello, I am looking to upgrade my old gaming PC Build, although I am on quite a bit of a budget. At the moment I have a Foxconn mini board, an old Athlon X2 and running on integrated graphics since my old ATI HD4850 died. I also have a Corsair TX650W that should be able to handle. I have a pretty good case, large and has a big fan on the front and the side. I'm looking to swap out these old parts for something that would be able to handle some of these newer games well, such as Fallout 4, GTA 5, CS:GO and some other good titles. I have never built a PC on my own before, so I have been doing all kinds of research and looking for the always helpful input of you all here at Tom's Hardware!

Here are the parts I have selected, hoping they would work well together

I've been looking at the AMD 880k, and it seems to have pretty alright specs. 4.0 GHz, Boost to 4.2, and some reviews I was reading said that they were able to OC it to 4.5 stable, with the included cooler(Although I know very little about their included cooler, supposedly it is fairly alright). I was thinking stick with this in the FM2+ socket to keep price on the CPU and mobo down.

The Msi Geforce GTX 970 seemed to me like a really good card. My focus on this rig is primarily PC gaming, and video streaming through Netflix and Kodi, so I figured to put more money into the GPU than the CPU. I do not do a whole lot of video compressing or burning.

What are your thoughts on these parts? Is the 880k worth it? Will it work well with the GTX 970?

Solution
I would suggest spending a bit more and getting theese part. The 880k will bottleneck the GPU.If you want you can still go with the GTX 970 but the 390 outperforms it and it has more VRAM 8GB the only problem is that it draws more power but your TX650w should be able to handle it
