I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card to a GeForce GTX 970 SSC rev2.00 ACX 2.0 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-3975-KR). But i dont know if my system meets the requirements.

My current Specs :

CPU: AMD (Piledriver) FX-6300 3.50GHz (4.10GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 6-Core Processor - Retail

Ram: 8GB (2x4GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz CL9 DDR3

Power supply : 500W - EVGA 80+ White Rated Power Supply

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard

Solution

Yes, Nvidia manufactures all 970 gpu's and sends them out to Gigabyte, Asus, MSI, etc for those companies to build custom PCB's around the chip.

The 970 is a worthy upgrade and your psu will handle it just fine. I would say the 970 is your best choice for upgrading a part, definitely is the bottleneck there if any.

Also, considering DX12 having expected better multicore performance the 290x or 390-390x would be a great choice too.

Yes, you should be good to upgrade for sure. You have enough power and your board has an x16 slot for that gpu, just make sure you have space in your case.

What is your current gpu?

Gigabyte Windforce and G1 Gaming, MSI Gaming Twin Frozr, Zotac AMP, EVGA ACX 2.0, and ASUS Strix all have good custom cooling solutions and are good cards.

You should aim for the G1 Gaming from Gigabyte or the Zotac AMP card in my opinion. Asus Strix is too expensive where I am.
