So I'm thinking about doing an upgrade soon, to get more performance in games like Battlefield and GTA, and wanted to know what I should upgrade first.

CPU: AMD A10-6800K
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 260X
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) G.Skill DDR3 1600
HDD: 1TB WD Blue
Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35

(Edit) I figured I would also mention that I have no aftermarket coolers on my CPU or GPU

Solution
A new GPU is the priority. But you'll still get frame drops on 64 player BF4 with that CPU, unless you lower the graphics settings (so counter-productive).

I'd certainly go for an AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core (or equivalent) when you can aford it.

Then you'll definitely gain more by swapping the GPU, though you might also want to replace the A10-6800 with an eight-core FX later on. That said, a GTX 970 would be your best bet at the moment. Any brand would do, just pick up the lowest priced in your region.

This EVGA is being sold for $319 over at newegg. ZOTAC also usually comes at decent price (both overclocked and stock).

wait for AMD to release their new Zen processors at the end of the year. You'll have to replace the cpu motherboard and probably ram if you want DDR4. your apu/cpu now is bottlenecking you a bit for sure but if you want a relatively cheap, easy upgrade get an r9-280 or 280x which are ideal for 1080p gaming.... unless you want to go stronger and get a 390 but that can be more than a 100$ more

The R9 280 is by no means an ideal fullHD card. It struggles to perform well (under 50fps, basically) in games released over two years ago, as seen in this benchmark.

As for waiting for Zen or DDR4, and to completely build from scratch, considering the concern is bottleneck here, that'd be just overkill.

well, i'd still hold off in upgrading your processor until Zen comes out, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait if you're willing to upgrade the mobo and ram when the time comes... as for the graphics card, yes definitely what will make a big difference now. it just depends on what you want to spend. if you want bang for buck go for a 380 or 380x. If you can afford it go for a 390 or gtx 970. I mean if you can afford it get a Fury X or GTX980TI lol
