My hard drive died a while back and I replaced it with an SSD for the OS and programs, and now I am also going to put in a new 2TB SSHD/hybrid drive as a secondary drive for personal files (I need the space for my massive photo collection).
Is there anything special I need to do when installing the hybrid drive? I know how to physically install it, but am wondering about formatting and if there are any settings I need to check to make sure it makes use of the SSD caching portion of the drive? (I'm kind of a noob.) And it's going to "play nice" with my SSD, I hope, right?
It's a Seagate Desktop SSHD 2TB. The instructions say that if you're adding a second drive, use "DiscWizard" (Seagate's software) for formatting/partitioning. But then when I visit the website for that download, the instructions at the bottom of their page says: "If you are setting up your new drive, use the tools built into your operating system to prepare the drive."
So is there any difference between using DiscWizard and using Disc Management in Windows 10 or whatnot?
And then, like I said, any settings I need to change after it's formatted? (Or any tips for best performance?) I want to make sure it uses the SSD portion.
Thanks in advance!!
