My current specs are as follows:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+
MOBO: OEM Dell Inspiron 531
RAM: 2x1gb sticks of DDR2
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 model
PSU: unspecified, unrated "500w"

My case is the Dell Inspiron 531, which has one 140mm fan in the back and no spaces for another, and I have a 1080p monitor. I think my CPU bottlenecks my GPU (crazy as that sounds) because the computers at my school have Radeon HD 6350's and Sandy bridge core i3's and play Warframe better at the lowest settings, 60-40fps vs my 10-25. I've looked around on eBay and found that core i5 760's sell for about $45, and are about 90% faster than my CPU. I'll soon have about $70, and maybe another $100 on my birthday which is also soon, which would cover the motherboard and RAM, possibly even a better GPU. Should I go this route or spend it all on GPU or something else even? I play for now the Elder Scrolls series, Warframe, Minecraft, Defense Grid 2, and several other free games on Steam, and I also use youtube and web browsing a lot. I do want to get into more modern gaming, I only haven't because of my current computer.

i would take a look on pcpartpicker.com for prices on stuff, they tend to have a vast coverage of availability and prices. i personally would maybe down the road look into a budget whole system upgrade somewhere around the $350 range at the very least amount. another user on here tried to do a $300 budget build for his friend and myself and others had a difficult time getting quality parts at that price point.

for your situation, depending on how your funds are i personally wouldnt heavily invest in that system. however, maybe spending no more then $50sh-60sh on a cpu and possibly max ram wouldnt be such a terrible idea.

not sure how soon you need a computer but i would try to save up, for 1080p i believe gtx950 can handle that, but for max 1080p is gtx 970 which is worth more than that whole computer really.

I would like to have a better computer very soon which is why I'm looking for upgrades. I've looked on pcpartpicker and they only cover prices for mainstream, current products, all of which are way outside of my budget. $300 is not possible, the only money I know for sure I'll have is the $70, and if I don't get any for my birthday I won't have more for quite a long time, so I want to make the most of it.

Does it really? I can't find benchmarks anywhere of the A6-7400k's GPU or my Radeon HD 6670 DDR3, much less compared to each other. Can I get a source? Also, who the hell would buy my crap parts from 2006?
