I have been getting my 7 year old into building with me and she would be thrilled to build her own rig and that got me thinking.
She is not going to be running the latest and greatest games but I would like to load steam and snag a few games for her as well some flash games she already plays. Playing lan games with her would be cool too mine craft, portal 2, civ 5, etc, stuff where people are not getting blown to bits..
Having the ability to leave it running with a second drive to share on the network in its downtime would be a huge plus for me.

I have the following laying around:
Case - Fractal Core 1000
PSU - 600w 80 plus coolermax
CPU - Intel Pentium g645 (cpu only no cooler)
GPU - Zotac Gt 610
HDD - Seagate 500 GB
OS - Windows 8.1
Sata Cd/dvdrw Drive

Building something with most of this is a requirement. I cant help thinking for a little more money than an lga 1155 mobo, ram, cpu cooler, thermal paste could I buy something much better than a g645?
There is so many options out there I could really use some opinions as which way to turn. My budget is around $250 USD.
Thanks in advance

Good point! An SSD would probably make a world of difference. I have the stuff in my amazon cart but keep backing out at the last moment before committing to buy.
I want to avoid putting money into it, get it built and wish I had gone a different route.

if you have some ddr3 ram then go with a g3258 and a h97/h81 micro atx mb. if you dont have any ram then go with the newer g4400 and h100 mb and ddr4 ram. for xmass swap out the 610 for the newer 950gpu or it replacment. that gpu will let her run any game that she wants. the gt610 right now is weaker then the built in ipgpu on the newer intel and amd cpu.

Thanks for the reply, I did not know that I would get better graphics performance with a newer on-board gpu and newer cpu. That could potentially save me a bunch of $ and she can end up with a better build.
I will look into building with a newer CPU as I need ram to go with it.
