I have 3 hard drives in my computer; A 128gb SSD for my OS, a 3tb hd for my games and movies, and a 1tb for my GoPro footage and children's videos. I recently built my computer about 3 weeks ago. Everything was working fine up until a couple of days ago. Now my 1tb HD won't show up anywhere in WIndows 10, however, it shows up in bios.

I can't try to format it or partition it to make it show up because I will lose all of my child's videos. Everything I've found on the internet involves reformatting it and/or partitioning it.

Somebody please help me figure this out.

Just in case, my computer stats:
MSI A88X-G45 mobo
AMD A8-7650K 3.3ghz OC'd to 4.3ghz
Corsair Vengeance 2x8gb RAM (16gb total)
PNY Geforce GTX960 4GB GPU
Windows 10 OS

If you just upgraded from windows 8.1 or windows 8 to windows 10.

And the drive suddenly disappeared.
There is a way to see if the drive is detected in windows.

Click on the search bar of windows 10.

Type: Disk management

Click on the search result.

A new window will open.

Click on the action tab at the top of the window.
Select rescan all drives.

Look down the list of the main window where you will see all of the hard drives connected to the system.
See if you can see the 1TB drive listed and to the right if it is showing, the status of the drive.
It should be set to Online.

Post back if you do not see the drive or it`s status is not set to online.

Shaun O-

I found out part of my problem. I recently installed a KINGWIN fan controller w/memory card readers. When I installed it, it created 3 additional drives on my computer (it has 3 different card readers). For some reason, that made my 1tb disappear completely, it wouldnt even show up under disk management.

Last night, I decided to unplug the card reader from my motherboard and restart my PC. Now, my 1tb shows up under disk management as "Online" but I can't do anything with it. Every time I try to add a drive letter to it, I keep getting an error saying I need to refresh disk management or restart my computer. I've done both of those.

What's my next step? I included a link to my screenshots so you can see what I'm talking about.
