Overclocking without cooler

Hello first of all, I don't know alot about computers.
I'm gonna upgrade to a GTX 970, and currently have an i5 3570k non OC running at 3.4ghz. And I'm afraid it's gonna bottleneck.

So can I overclock my CPU without any cooling system nor any extra fans. If so how much? Do I only change clock speed or like voltage too?

(My idea is just to change it to like 3.8ghz without changing ANYTHING else in BIOS.)

Imagine talking to a 3 year old when it comes to me about computers.

(Sorry if I wrote this is in the wrong thread. First time on tomshardware)

Thanks.

Your CPU isn't going to bottleneck a GTX 970,even at stock speeds. If you're motherboard supports overclocking, you might try increasing the multiplier one number at a time without increasing the vcore until it becomes unstable. This will add very little extra heat and the stock cooler should handle a small increase, but monitor your CPU temps to be sure.

Solution
Go ahead and do the GTX970 upgrade.
If you then think you are cpu limited, you can improve the performance by gradually raising the cpu multiplier from 34 to a higher number.
That is what the "K" is designed to do.
Leave all voltages on auto and leave the ram speeds at default.
Stress test with OCCT.
It will shut down the test at 85c, so no worries about damage.

ur best bet if u decide u rather not get a cooler/
if i was in ur shoes this is what i would do:
clean ur tower up includes fans, heatsinks tidy up ur wires and get rid of all the dust builds.
assuming u have best possible airflow and positive pressure i would search up what the temperatures other ppl are getting/ with/without coolers etc.
then u have a better idea of what temperature u want to be at while doing ur daily things on ur pc.
when u are comparing with other systems. u want to know the vcore, what type of cooling; stock, air, liquid, and hardware.

As above you can run a 970 on a stock 3570k.
I've run one on a 3470 with 200mhz less & for 60htz screens its plenty good enough at stock.
Should you really want to overclock then surely if you can afford a 979 you can afford a $20 cooler (that's literally all you need to spend on one)

Thanks to all of you responding. If my cpu isnt going to bottleneck running at the speed it came with when I boguht it, then I wont ocerclock. There is just so many peopöe saying it will bottleneck :/
