Any Deaf Gamers Out There?

Hello Community,

I am not personally deaf, but had a dear friend pass away from an accident some years back. The cause of the accident I believe is highly more avoidable with the hardware I have been developing for the last few years.

I have been working on a spacial awareness technology for the deaf, and have found methods of also combining it with PC gaming(less important, but doesn't cost me extra to integrate, so why not?) to help give players who are deaf better situational awareness in games and not just in reality due to lack of sound.

I am looking for opinions on the interface I have developed, as well as people who would like to help test the hardware involved, and give me honest feedback and opinions that they think would help make it better. I already have prototypes in the wild being tested for day to day use, but am specifically interested in feedback from gamers for further development.

The hardware itself is compatible with most PC hardware, OS, and games. It also works as a stand alone unit for daily life (since that's what I had originally developed it for). I am willing to ship you a unit for testing at no cost (but your feedback) as long as you are legally deaf, own a gaming capable PC with a good selection of modern titles(2012+), live in the U.S. and are 18 years of age or older, or have parent/guardian make request. I will also ask that you sign a liability waiver and a non disclosure agreement regarding the prototype/beta hardware/software.

I currently only have three prototype units left available that aren't spoken for, so let me know sooner rather than later. Each unit will be custom tailored for the end user, so please allow up to a month to receive. I will hopefully have my safety/material testing phases complete, and units ready for babies and toddlers within the next few months as well if you are an interested parent.

This is not a paying gig, but a chance at helping to improve your life, as well as the lives of those with disabilities for free. So, if you want to be a part of that please send me a message, or leave one here. Thanks for your time!

I'm not deaf, however I would suggest providing a link to more information on what you're describing.

I have no definite reason to believe you are not legit, however your post (to me at least) comes off as really odd, in fact it's almost suspicious as it sounds a little like phishing. Sorry.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion based off of what I said. But, I suppose we all look at things differently. I am not describing what it is, or how it works due to patents that I haven't applied for yet. It's a fairly simple device, and not expensive to develop. I have video cards that cost dozens of times more money easily than it costs me to make one of these. I'm just a simple tinkerer, and want to help some people out, Sorry.

I did let people know upfront the things that I require to send them a unit, specifically so they can make a decision before even contacting me about it. If someone is interested, they are, if not, then that's okay too.

Things I need: Name, address, hat size, simple form signed that says you won't tell anyone about the details of the device for x amount of time, a promise that you are indeed legally deaf, I ask for no proof or medical records of any kind, only your word. I prefer to send these to people who are willing to give me honest feedback for better or worse, so that I can improve or add to them before spending tens of thousands of dollars on patent filings.

Things I don't need: Money, Your Credit card number, Your email address, your phone number, electronic signature, your ssn, your mom's last name, your dogs name, where you grew up, or any other information pertaining to anything unrelated to me sending you an agreement form, look it over or hire an attorney if you want, sign and send back to me, then I ship device and hope you will keep me updated.

Hello, any updates on this? I'm actually a student at university doing a design project. We're trying to design something for deaf gamers and possibly for other gamers with disabilities (one of our group members has a lot of deaf friends and they mentioned how they wished there was a way for them to play games without being put at a disadvantage before even attempting to playing certain video games).

I stumbled across this while searching through a bunch of message boards and found it very interesting that you've probably already created something that just needs testing. I guess I'm just curious as to how far you've progressed with this?

No need for specific details on how it was created or anything. Just curious on your progress!
But if there's any info you could share on how you've kind of attempted to tackle at this problem, that be great.

Thanks ! :)
