Hi there,

I've shifted through dozens of threads trying to find an answer but most of the solutions provided don't seem to work for me. I'm not an expert or even that knowledgeable in this area so I apologise if I have missed something.

The issue I'm having is when I try to connect my graphics card to my PSU it just won't work due to having the insufficient cables to connect, what I mean by this is that there are no molex slots at all on my PCU, it only has a 4pin connector to use whilst my GTS 450 graphics card requires a 6pin. I have an atx-500b power supply unit.

If needed I can get more information or take pictures.

The link below is the specs of my PC

Thanks, Lee

If your power supply doesn't have the required 6 pin PCIe connector, that's a pretty good indication it's not really suitable for use with the graphics card. You need a 400 watt or larger PSU with at least 22 amps on the 12v rail. You can look at the specs on the side of your PSU to see what they are.

I've had a look at the specs and i'm not quite sure which one the 12v rail is. Im assuming its the middle number related to my VAC input?

Heres an average quality picture which might help - http://postimg.org/image/wff44ch0r/

Thanks for the quick reply.

What he really means is you need to look at replacing your power supply with one that does have the correct connections. To add to that I would look at one which has the proper 6/8 pin PCIe power cabling as relying on the 4-pin molex is not a good idea as they are rarely capable of delivering enough current to power a graphics card.

I see, so if I'm looking to replace my PSU is there any you could recommend? Price isn't really an issue but ideally I don't want to spend over £100.

Or shall I just look up some 6/8 pin PSU's and compare them?

Thanks again.
