Hey guys, that might sound dumb, but whatever :p I built a brand new comp, but i decided to use my old cooler, it is a very good one, it is the Xigmatek Aegir cooler http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=99&type=specification.

The only issue with it is that it is really big. I have 4 RAM slots and it covers the first two, so i was forced to install my memory module on the third slot. Now if i want to add another one in the future ill have to install it on the 1 slot in order to maintain proper channel configuration. I am using a 8gb Corsair Vengeance ram module (1600 mhz with xmp activated) and it comes with its own heatsink, so there is no way for me to fit a second one beneath the fan.

So i decided to search for a new cooler. I found this one http://www.e-shop.gr/phanteks-ph-tc14s-slim-cpu-cooler-140mm-black-p-PER.815669 . It seems very efficient and its slim, so im thinking about buying it. The problem is that i dont really feel like deassembling my computer in order to change the backplate. Is it possible to use the one that im using for the Xigmatek Aegir? The Phanteks cooler says that it need the AMD stock backplate, i have that, but it is not the one installed, i think the one installed is the one that came with the Xigmatek Aegir. So is it possible to keep the one im using already and not use the AMD stock one? Thanks in advance

Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte-970A-UD3P
CPU: AMD FX-4100
Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz
GPU: Sapphire Nitro OC R9 380 4gb (with backplate)
PSU: Corsair CX-600
Case: Corsair Carbide 100R
OS: Windows 7

uhhh idk what else to list about my specs

Unmatched Compatibility
Zero RAM Interference

Focusing on providing the widest range of
compatibility, the H7 utilizes an asymmetric slanted
heatpipe layout to move the heatsink away from the
RAM zone, Offering optimal compatibility for RAM
with tall heat spreaders on both Intel 115X and
AMD platforms.

Blackbird thanks for your reply, but that specific cooler is gigantic, its actually bigger than the one i have now haha. What i want is a smaller cooler that is efficient. The Phantecs one seems equally efficient with my Xigmetek one but a lot smaller, thats why i chose it. By the way, are you greek? I noticed you posted a link from a greek site.

Zerk thanks for your reply too, um i just found out too on my own haha. While i was waiting for the replies, i opened up the back of the case because i remembered when i assembled the computer that it had an opening, and indeed it does. I am a programming engineer and i am into computers since a small age, but fiddling with the area around the CPU always scared me, thats why i really want to avoid deassembling it again, its like some sort of damaged CPU fobia i have haha.

Right now i am checking Hyper 212 Evo which is already famous about being reliable.

H7 is smaller than the 212 and better performance.

H7 is 145mm , 212 IS 159mm.

And H7 has Zero Ram Interference.

Uhhh it is bigger. My problem is not height, but width. Phantecs cooler had 74 mm width, Evo has 80 mm width, H7 has 98 mm. The Xigmatek i am currently using has 92 mm. So H7 would actually be bigger than the one i have now.

Well if it is smaller, it is not going to interfere anyway, so i guess the other ones have even less interference. :bounce: It probably has to do with the type of motherboard you are using. I dont have the one in the vid, my ram slots are closer to the CPU.
