Can you still make money Bitcoin/Litecoin/Etc. Mining?

Could you make some money Bitcoin or Litecoin mining? How much money would you have to spend on an ASIC card to be able to make money on mining. Also, can you use an ASIC card with pretty much any PC? Or would you have to have a decent PC to "run" the ASIC card? How much would you have to spend on a card? $20? $50? $100? $1000? $10000? THANKS!! :)

There is no money to be made anymore. The electrical costs of running a BitCoin system exceed what you might earn (if anything). Nevermind the cost of the system.

That's what I thought. Is there anything similar to BitCoin mining, that people could make money with? Thanks!!
