Once I build my gaming PC, I will want to connect it to the internet via an ethernet cable. I am a complete noob to anything that has to do with ethernet. Will I connect the ethernet cable to my computer and then the wall? I have a ethernet slot on my wall that says Cat 5, does that mean I can only connect a Cat 5 cable to it? Do I have to do anything with a modem? Please help!

Here's the Rig I plan to Build

If it is functional it would have to connect to either a network switch or the router.

Are there ethernet ports throughout the house? If so, then there is a closet or other out-of-the-way location that...

The PC doesn't really matter in relation to your question. The question you will need to answer is what does that Cat5 jack on the wall connect to? Do you live in an apartment with ethernet included? In a home?

That jack just says that the quality of the network connection is Cat5. You can use any RJ45 cable (Cat5, Cat6, Cat6A...) and still be at least as good as Cat5.

It is possible that jack doesn't connect to ANYTHING...

I live in a house and am not sure what the jack connects to. What should it connect to?

Are there ethernet ports throughout the house? If so, then there is a closet or other out-of-the-way location that all the ports tie back to. The switch or router should be there.
