Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask a quick question about the GPU I'm currently gaming with. Its a GTX 570 (1024 MB) and today noticed the back of the PC was giving out quiet a bit of heat. After checking, the temp was showing as 80c while a game was running. Is this too hot for this card?

The case I'm using as good non stock fans in and the cpu also has a good fan on it. I'm just wondering about the temp of the card. The cpu is a AMD FX-4 4170 Black Edition 4 Core 4.2GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache (not OC)

The fans in the case are:

Be Quiet Shadow Wings SW1 120mm fan
Gelid Solutions Tranquillo Rev.2 Quiet Cooler + a couple of other smaller fans attached to the inside of the case.

The motherboard (Asus M5A99X EVO 990X Socket AM3+) has 8GB of ram and is running Windows 7 64 bit

Would anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks

Thank you for the swift replies everyone. I did remove the card today and checked for dust. It was quiet clean.

I've never applied new paste to a GPU before. Is it the same as a CPU? I've been working with PC's for quiet a few years but have never had to do this.

I am looking to upgrade the card soon but would like to keep the motherboard and CPU I have. Would anyone have any tips on a nice upgrade that wouldn't bottleneck with the rest of the hardware.

Thanks again

The games I play all run at 1920 x 1080 but with the settings on around low. I can run all the latest games with this rig fine - with the lower settings of course.

As I'm on a budget I would be looking to spend around around £50 - £60 and I'm sure for that price range it would have to be second hand/Ebay.

It's a bit hard to say what the next best uprade would be. Your current card scores about as high as a GTX 750 Ti, which goes for about US$125, so you'd have to spend more than that to see an improvement on the GPU side. What kind of games do play currently? Are the CPU bound or GPU bound? You may have to use Task Manager and GPU-Z/MSI Afterburner to get a handle on that. Overall, I think I'd recommend a CPU upgrade. Looks like the FX6100 goes for about 50 - 60 pounds on ebay.co.uk.
