My pc is not recognizing my graphics card when i try and install the drivers it says that the hardware is not found. The fans and everything are running so i dont know whats wrong.
Specs
Intel i5 Processor
16 gb ram
600w power supply
Windows 10
msi z170a Motherboard
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 mini Overclocked Version

Solution
this should be easy. Newegg is good. Call / email customer service. Dead card. Exact replacement. They will tell you how to do it. You do not pay anyone to test anything more. This is business as usual for them.

Could be various reasons for this.

Does your motherboard have an option to turn off the on-board graphics option? Are there any power connections that may be loose on the card or if the modular cable to the psu if it has any? The pci slot is maybe powering the fans itself possibly?

Are you using drivers on the disc?

Sounds like old drivers to me. I would download drivers off the website that are up to date if you hadn't already.

If the card is an ITX and the board is an ATX maybe there's a utility or a certain driver that needs to be installed?

I suggest calling the manufacturer if its a new card.

Good luck to you.

Ignore Windows. Focus on your BIOS. Can you see the BIOS splash screen with the new video card installed?

Assuming NO, the BIOS cannot use the new card...
1. Verify the video cable is plugged into the video card and not the MB video connector.
2. Verify that the external power plug needed for the 970 is plugged correctly into the video card.
3.Verify fan is moving on the video card.

If you've plugged the card correctly and it does not work RMA the card.

The fan is moving
The video cable is plugged in
And the pcie is connected to the power supply

dont understand that last sentence im a pleb i know :C

Hi,

Complex electronic like video cards have a high failure rate in the first hundred or so hours of operation. It sounds like you have done everything right. If you have another PC then you should try the video card in the other PC.

RMA stands for "return merchandise authorization". My last sentence meant to say contact the store that sold you the card, tell them it is dead and ask to swap it for another of the exact equivalent cards. Then ask them to pay shipping. Almost all stores will do an exact swap w/o charging you anything. Many will pay postage both ways, others will pay only one direction.

Generally it is easier/faster to swap cards where you bought the card then it is to contact the card manufacturer and do a warantee exchange.

Where did you buy the card? Return it and say its faulty. They should replace it. If you bought it from amazon or somewhere online, contact Gigabyte. If you card is still broken, well we assume it is, return it and this time try get another kind, like the GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD (http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5209#ov) if your case alows the size, if not, maybe try to get maybe a GV-N970TTOC-4GD (http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5559#ov)

If you have to, maybe buy this gpu to test if it is the 960 is what is wrong, its costs $25 bucks, the cheapest card available
ALSO, do you have another slot on your mobo? like a PCIX 2/3 4x or 8x? If so, try and install it in that one.
