Hello guys.

Today i was playing with my GTX980 Ti and a question came up to my head after looking at its temps.

The average temperatures while gaming are between 77-80C, and i was wondering, how much does a GPU last running games at 80C before going bad (since i know high temps deteriorate the card over time)? Figuring an scenario of someone who plays a lot. (Not my case, but id really like to know, from your experiences).

My HD 5850 is still going after 5 years (with an avg of 70C while gaming, tho im concerned now because im hitting constant 79C on some games)

with the 980 use msi afterburner make sure the gpu fans spin up more then 30 percent to keep the card cool. with any gpu it when the thremal pastes dries out and the gpu chip starts cooking. on older gpu vendor found that voltage reg or ram would run away when the gpu hit x temps. that why a lot of the newer gpu use those large one piece heat sinks. on your 980 make sure the idle temps are fine. older gpu were heat units that used to sit at 50c. the newer gpu should be sititng at 30-35c.
