Hello everyone, I am in a middle of upgrading my PC to latest Skylake chip. I am going to replace the CPU, motherboard and RAM. Currently I am using Intel DP67BG extreme board, I5 2500K and 126 gb og 1600mhz memory. This Sandybridge setup is serving me for 5 years already, yet it is starting to show its age in never CPU demanding titles and occasionly stuters a bit as games are getting harder and harder. I am going to use the res tof my rig which consists of next components:
2x GTX 780 ti in SLI
2x 2,5 TB WD drives
1x Samsung 840 EVO SSD
1x Crucial SSD 240 GB
Corsair AX 850 PSU
Fractal design ARC XL case with EKWB watercooling (2x 240mm rad, 1x120mm rad a total of 8 Noctua fans.)
For CPU I choose I5 6660k which I will of course oveclock to at least 4,5 GHZ, I am running my 2500k at 4,7 Ghz for fift year and for block I am using EKWB Full nickel EVO supremacy which is probably the best block on the market.
For memory I set my scope on latest Gskill Trident Z 3200Mhz 16GB kit consisting of 2 sticks and here comes my first question…will 16 Gb suffice for next 3-4 years or shuld I buy 2 kits for 32 Gb of total ram ?
And probably the hardest choise the motherboars, since Intel is not making its own stuff anymore and Supermicro is not awiable in my county I am looking up gor either Asus ROG Maximus VIII ranger or hero. Ranger costs 200 eur while hero is 240, I have been looking at diferences of both boards and aside from Hero having 2 SATA ports more (I do not need them as I have a total of 5 drives and wont be going for more, maybe even less with bigger drives) some plastic shield and iluminated logo I do not any difference among them. If the hero has stronger VRM or oveclocs better I would took it but if it looking nice I will go for ranger. If anyone knows the difference among those two I would be greatfull to know what differciates those two bords and how much memory shall I got 16 or 32 gigs ?
