Ram speeds and quantity and heat

I have 32 gbs of ram (4 sticks of 8gb) this was intended to be prepared for video editing which got delayed. I've been ocing and I was told I should take two sticks out which will reduce heat....now my question is when picking thr speed in bios I can pick the 1680 (base clock is set to 220) which makes.it run at 840 or can do auto which the motherboard picks best speed which according to it would be 420....which if 420 is picked it reduces heat very well as if was running two sticks. Question is, would running at 4 sticks at 420 be equal to be running 2 at 840? Would two extra sticks help to achieve same speeds in a sense?

So should I leave the dram frequency setting to auto and let the motherboard picks the frequency which is 420 or should I set it to the 1680 frequency which gives the stick 840
