Hi, so I'm building my first computer from scratch, and i need help. I've looked at the Intel g3258 and most benchmarks I've seen of it show it absolutely killing the AMD FX6300, so that's not an option to me anymore. So I'm trying to decide between the Intel G3258 and Intel G4400. I've heard that you can overclock skylake CPU's, but the bios update got rid of that ability on asrock z170 motherboards. So I was wondering if I could put a older bios version on a asrock z170 and still overclock the g4400. Also, If you have any idea of an alternate CPU i could use let me know. I plan on using the cooler master hyper 212 evo and Windows 10 as my OS. I would also like to know whether I should go with a GTX 950 OC by gigabyte, GTX 960 OC by gigabyte, or Radeon R9 380 by gigabyte. If there's a GPU under $200 that would be a better option let me know. Also, any parts you link me please use jet.com, as I live in Tennessee and the tax from NEWEGG and Amazon are outrageous. I also plan on using a coupon code for jet.com which will get me $50 off.

Something like this Gigabyte H110 motherboard would work. This one is $61 on Amazon.

I know you asked for links on other sites besides Amazon but this will give you a good idea of what to look for.

As for the GPU, the R9 380 is the best choice out of the ones you mentioned. The 960 is close enough that it won't be a major difference if you prefer Nvidia but the 380 is slightly better.

Instead of buying an aftermarket cooler and trying to overclock you should get an i3-6100. There are some games that won't even launch with 2 threads. The hyperthreading on the i3 gives you 4 threads to solve that problem.

Ok I'm going with the Intel i3 6100 and the MSI H110M Pro-VD motherboard, but should I go for a 120GB SSD.

An SSD is a huge improvement to your PC. I have a 240GB SSD in mine and I love it. It won't really improve your FPS but Windows will boot almost instantly.

I like to keep 4 or 5 games I happen to be playing at any given time on the SSD too. This makes for much faster load times in games. With 120GB you won't be able to fit more than a couple AAA games at a time but I still recommend it for the quality of life improvements it makes for using your PC in general. Just know that it won't really affect your FPS.
