Both are at 15 inches 1080p

Laptop 1:
Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor 6700HQ (2.6GHz
16GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 980M - 8.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12
120GB KINGSTON V300 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
500GB SERIAL ATA III 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

VS

Laptop 2:
Intel® Intel® Core™ i7-6820HK (Quad-Core, 8MB Cache
AMD Radeon™ R9 M395X with 8GB GDDR5
16GB RAM
1TB Hardrive

THey both cost the same amount and are made by reputable companies, they only issue I have is the difference in GPU and CPU qulaities as I want them to be as future proof as possible
THANKS

In that case, I still would go with laptop 1, because of the SSD. Laptop 2 has more total storage, but I doubt that you will actually need it.

Good Luck!
As they both cost the same, I don't know that there is a noticeable difference in performance. Key word here is "noticeable"! I'm sure that one would play some games better than the other, which is which would depend on he games. I would lean toward laptop 1, because it has an SSD, albeit small. What are the specs of the displays?

The first laptop has more powerful GPU, and will perform better in games. The 2nd laptop does have a little bit better CPU (which is unlocked, and can therefore be overclocked), but either CPU is powerful enough to not bottleneck the GPU, meaning it won't make a significant difference in games.

Also, the first one has a SSD.
