Okay, I am using HP ProBook 4530s windows 7 Home Premium on my system. I need to restart it and go to safe mode with command prompt. I have read suggestions to tap f8 key. I tried that but nothing work. At bottom left corner, it says to press esc, once I do that a menu shows that I have options, such as:

F1 system information
F2 system diagnostics
F7 HP sparekey
F9 boot device option
F10 bios setup
F11 HP recovery
F12 network boot

Now, if you are wondering why I need safe mode with command prompt... my system has been infected with departure of justice type of virus in Russian language.

Solution
I have to press F8 once or twice a second before the message appears that it's starting Windows. If that's not your problem, I believe there's a BOOT tab in MSCONFIG that you can change to get into Safe Mode the next time you boot.

Good luck.

I downloaded HP ProBook 4530s Maintenance and Service guide. In chapter 7, it is mentioned "press f8 before the Windows operating system loads" ... but in my system it's not working!
