Could i put a PNY GTX 460 in my Dell Optiplex 780 would it fit and would the power supply give enough power?

Is it the mini tower or the desktop tower version?

Upon looking at this here http://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/optiplex_780_tech_spec_sheet.pdf none of them have a beefy enough PSU to handle a GPU upgrade.

The Dell Optiplex 780 comes in three formats.

1. None of them have a power supply strong enough for a GTX460.
You would need some 500w.
The strongest card would be a GTX750ti that does not need a 6 pin connector.
Such a GTX750ti will be a better performer than the GTX460 anyway.

2. If your Dell Optiplex 780 is one of the small form factor versions, you also have the restriction that you need a low profile graphics card. The GTX460 you linked is full height.

It only has a 350-watt PSU, I would recommend at least a 550 watt model... The card requires that it be a minimum of 450 watts

But it needs the power supply to have an amperage rating that starts at the 450-watt range.

My advice would be to just sell that machine and build yourself a custom one, it's really pretty simple to do.
