Question about partitioning NAS drive

I work for a small office with 3 LLCs

We purchased a Synology 716+ and 2 WD Red NAS drives.

I plan to set the drives up to mirror each other with RAID, and I was wondering if it's possible to partition drive 1 into 3 separate sections, 1 for each company(For example, C:// for LLC1, D:// for LLC2, and E:// for LLC3). If so, how would I go about doing this? If not, what would be the best alternative for splitting the drive into sections?

Do you want to put a hard size limit on each slice or would it be better to have one large disk and use subdirectories to segregate the 3 entities. With a single pool, one entity could hog space, but it is more flexible.

Kane has a valid point. So the answer is yes you can do this but you don't really need to. Do you have a server in house or is this stand alone storage? If you set permissions on the storage you can just make 3 shares and either setup login scripts or go add each drive to the correct users and be done with it.

What do you mean by subdirectories? Would that just be like, a folder for each company that contains all of their files? Could I set up some kind of user specific access or password to use them?

That's what I was thinking of doing, but it seems like they really want me to set up 3 separate partitions on the drive. In the end I have total control over what is done, I just want to make the best decision.

You can do it with folders and logins and permissions for segregation. That way you haven't put a specific size on each user. You can probably still put quotas on each directory to prevent space hogging.

Since this is a "+" model, it can be part of a windows domain. Is there a windows domain for all three of the groups that you can use with AD rules ?
