New Build:
Asus Maximus Hero VIII
i7 6700k CPU
32Gig G.Skill DDR4 -3400 DRAM
NVidia GTX 9800TI GPU
Samsung 840 Pro 256 SSD

Downloaded latest Asus BIOS update, extracted file to blank/formatted USB flash drive. Plugged into USB port, brought up BIOS UEFI. UEFI recognized USB flash drive present, went to Tool, EZ Flash, selected drive option. EZ Flash does NOT see USB flash drive, but does see other drives. Tried another USB flash, same file loaded - EZ Flash still does NOT see USB flash. Tried different USB ports - no change. All USB ports enables in UEFI.

What am I missing? Can someone, PLEASE assist me in solving this problem?

Solution
Don't know, I flashed all the updates from a FAT32 formatted flash (both USB2 and 3 drives using the both the back USB ports and currently the front case USB port...odd to say the least, unless it's the exFAT format

OK. Thanks for the correction. I was going from memory (mine) which is like an unassembled jig saw puzzle at times.

Did not understand posting(s) concerning USB ports. Only one dedicated USB port for BIOS update (?) or all USB ports (?). Both flash drives I tried were blank and formatted in exFAT (which supposedly is an update to FAT32 (?) In any event, no USB port worked since EZ Flash didn't see ANY USB drive, only the installed SSD and HDD files. So I tried an experiment - I copied the BIOS update (1601) file to my SSD boot drive root folder, and used EZ Flash- selected the update file on the SSD, and let it load. Surprisingly enough, EZ Flash read the update, loaded it and successfully updated my BIOS to 1601 (!!). Too Strange...I checked the BIOS several times in restart and everything seems stable. I then activated XMP to speed up my 3400 GHz RAM, and it worked successfuly. It shouldn't have worked since my SSD is formatted in NTFS - but it did. Something is fishy somewhere - and the newly updated BIOS EZ Flash tool STILL doesn't see any USB drives.

Anyone have the vaguest idea whats going on?

Any thoughts on why EZ Flash does not recognize USB drives yet they all show up in the BIOS UEFI? And, why EZ Flash was able to read the BIOS update file from my boot SSD? Could this be a corrupted BIOS - even the 1601 BIOS update acts the same? I'm concerned...
