So I had this idea to keep my 20 inch monitor as main display and setting up another 32 inch tv display for /mainly/ gaming (1920x1080 tv) and watching movies on my PC.

I am going to get a GTX 960 and if not, a GTX 950. Do I have to worry about this refresh rates or response times? I might get my hands on this TV

Also, how would a 32inch 1366x768 do? Or is 1920x1080 just the thing I should go for?

Get the 960 / R9 380 you will be fine nothing wrong with gaming on a TV. Keep it at 1080p.

gaming is not recommended because of horrible input lag on most tv displays

You'll be fine... At one point I was using a TV as my main PC Display. One thing you'll have to be aware of is... your computer's Power Management scheme will NOT work with the TV. So that means you'll have to manually turn it on and off...

After my 1080p gaming monitor died, for a while I was using my bedroom 32" LG HDTV (1080p) for gaming. It was connected via DVI (out) -> HDMI (in) from a GTX 680 and there was no noticeable lag like others have said...even in fast paced games like FPS and racing sims.

Regarding resolution, get a 1080p...prices in the 32"-40" full HDTV sizes have dropped so much it's not worth the sacrifice of having a lower resolution for relatively little savings (of course it depends on where you live). And regarding response times and lag, I have no idea what maxalge is talking about.

some people are perfectly happy playing games at stuttery ~30 fps 1024 x 768, to them this is fine

ever heard of the old man that tells the story that when he was a kid he walked thru the snow to get to school?

i think it applies to this very well.

anyways "my own eyes" is subjective, not everyone is equal in this department.
