Hello all, I am building a new budget system as my second pc with using some of the stuff I already have. Mostly for mid-level programming, editing, compiling and maybe just a little bit of gaming. Please feel free to give any comments and advices you see fit. Thank you and here are the parts I am considering;

Motherboard: Asus A68HM-K FM2+
Processor: AMD FX-6300 3.5 gHz
RAM: Kingston 4GB HyperX DDR3 1866Mhz
SSD: Kingston SV300S37A 120GB 450MB/s 2,5" SSD
Power: Thermaltake LitePower Black Edition 500W Atx 2.3
Graphics: AMD HD Radeon 5670

Or swap out for an AM3+ motherboard...

Well CPU and Motherboard won't fit together, so you are not off to a good start.

Power supply is questionable, but I have several thermaltake power supplies that have stood up well over time.

HD5670 I assume is a part you already have.

Or swap out for an AM3+ motherboard to get your FX-6300. (Though I would build an Intel system rather then AM3+ for that kind of money)

Thank you very much, could you tell me an Intel system similar to that kind of performance and price?

Sorry for the late reply. I'll just leave this here in case anyone else is in roughly the same position. To get the approximate same budget as the system above, a Pentium G4400 is an alternative. The key is that you can upgrade the processor to an i5 or i7 at a later date.
