Hello, I have an old Alienware at home that I use as a media computer on my Tv. I had a Sapphire Radeon 7990HD in it and it was running really good (a bit of overheating in the summer, its not a really great cooling case). I bought a new computer and installed my Sapphire in it. For my Alienware I bought a used Asus GTX 650 TI 2gb from a friend that I trust and installed an OCZ Vertex 60gb SSD that was running my linux. I formated it with a brand new Windows 10, the same as my new computer and it work great so its not the windows. So my problem is this, after all the driver updates and windows updates, my pc will randomly restart (when I open a browser, a game, a movie, anything). It brings me back to my windows login screen, It will restart after a shorter period of time each time to the point where my pc freeze at the login screen and i cant log on my computer. I shut down my computer, wait a couple hours and its the same cycle. I was able to have a 3h gaming session on it without a problem, its only when i open a program that it reboot. My PCIe slots are setup like this (x16, x8, x8). when i put it in a 8x slot it seems to works without a problem but i want the best performance possible. I aslo have a 4 usb addon port PCIe with a molex connector that i put in one of my 8x slot. I dont think its overheating, it could handle a 7990... and i was able to play a long time without a problem. Here are my specs, I Boot my program from an Internal HDD. Thanks =).

Asus PT6 Deluxe V2 Motherboard
Corsair Tx750W Power Supply
Intel i7 920 CPU
6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 3 x 2048MB
Alienware® P2 Chassis
OCZ Vertex 60gb SSD
Seagate 500GB SATA 3Gb/s 7,200RPM 16MB Cache
Asus GTX 650 TI 2gb

Thanks for the quick answer, ill be at home tomorrow, will do the test and post the result. Its true that my Psu is 7 years old but i had no problem with the 7990 (dual gpu on the same card using 2x 8pins connector) while the 650 only use 1x 6pins connector !!

That could well be causing an issue, 7 years is quite a long time

After a 15 min test with MSI Kombustor and Afterburner temp reached 68°C max FP usage 99% and VID usage around 60%. I dont know wich data you wanted i am not familiar with these test. 28°C idle btw

Okay that is fine, could you do the same with a CPU stress test and monitor the CPU temps please :)

Thank you very much for your time, you made me discover some usefull tools, it seems like my usb 3.0 PCIe addon card caused the problem, i cant be sure because its not a problem that was always there and its unlikely that this kind of card causes this kind of problem but after i intalled it in my second PCIe slot and switched from auto to x16 x16 x1 in the bios settings, it didint reboot after a couple of hours on it (might also be a connector on the gpu that was not attached correctly and i fixed it by changing the slot) anyway problem seems solved and just fyi, my cpu temp was ok =)

Okay, well I'm glad you fixed it and I hope it stays that way :)
