I never said three, and the number of monitors wasn't specified in the question. But when playing games at a higher resolution it requires more VRAM to be used so the answer is yes...

Well, the Acer XB270H-G is only 1080p so for Triple A title games, it won't be difficult to run especially with a 980 Ti. In fact, a 980 Ti is a bit overkill for a 1080p panel even if it is 144 Hz. If you want, I'd suggest going for a 2k monitor at least. There's some great 2k 144Hz G-Sync panels for around the same price as the XB270H-G.

Newegg is having a sale on this Dell Monitor for $520: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260333

So 3 x 2k monitors would run fine on a single 980ti? I thought that might get out of hand

I never said three, and the number of monitors wasn't specified in the question. But when playing games at a higher resolution it requires more VRAM to be used so the answer is yes and no, 3 2k monitors will be pushing it if you're GAMING on all 3 in a surround setup. However, if you use 1 to game on and the others for media it won't be pushing it so much. If you were to get 3 2k monitors I'd suggest getting 2 980 Tis to be certain of no problems in terms of in game lag . Hope this helps.
