I found a local Craigslist ad for a complete system used about 1 1/2 years, supposedly never overclocked and cleaned regularly. This system is to replace my boyfriends dead laptop, he's been unable to game for about 3 months now. So I just want something that will work for him till we can save up for another laptop (He needs it because he travels a lot between California and Maryland - plus he's in college.).

Specs are -

Intel i5-4960k

MSI GTX 970 4g

Gigabyte Z97 Black Edition

G.Skill 16 gigs of 2XXXmhz ram

Corsair RM750X PSU

Samsung 500Gigs SSD

2 TB HDD that I will probably swap out.

and some NZXT case I forgot the model name for.

Final Price - 600 dollars. It feels like a good price but I am not sure if I should be weary or not.

Its a good desktop for the price but the problem buying used is that there is no warrenty so it if breaks 3 days after you bought it then your out of money. Also there is no proof that he hasn't overclocked it. The best thing you could do it would have the person run benchmarks or games when you get there and then inspect temps and overall performance. Just make sure that all the parts are what you are paying for and that there is also no physical damage.

That is a really nice PC! I'm not really familiar with prices in USD though, how much the individual components cost in USD, but it seems a bit too good to be true for the equivalent of 420 quid. As Onefurrybanana said, have a good look over it.

Some warranties are transferable, some aren't. It depends.

Yeah I figured that would be the most intelligent thing to do - always hated going to people's houses with such a large sum of cash. You're right though, I need to see physical proof the parts are what they are and that the integrity is there.

Checked Newegg as well and even though I still get free shipping the price was over 1300 dollars new. I think I might jump on it this weekend if the seller can prove integrity.

Oh yeah the price was originally 1000 USD but then he lowered it to 800 and I was able to talk him down to 600 bucks. It's been on Craigslist for a while. Smallish town I live in outside the San Francisco area, so not a lot of demand for high end PC's. So I also felt it a little true that it was a sham of some sort, then I remember when I was thinking about building a pc anyway - back in December. It's been on Craigslist for a while now. He said he's had people offer him 300 bucks over the phone but due to it being such a small area he's had a hard time selling - Guess ebay was too much hassle?
